Franziska: I just got back from an amazing weekend with a bunch of tech entrepreneurs that are also into kite surfing. So in the mornings, we would do tech talks, and I also got to do a talk on the Courage Map and around courage, which it totally takes to run a business, especially to run, also very innovative business. And also I did an interview with Layne Beachley who a seven times surf world champion and amazing woman. And in the afternoons, we would go kite surfing or do any other water sports activity. The wind was super light, so kite surfing was a bit of a challenge. However, it did make me think about the parallels, the connection between learning to kite surf for a similar sport and running a business. Both of those demand resilience and grit. And I remember I got my first kite surfing lessons on Necker island about five years ago. And then later on, I got another lesson by one of my dear friends, Lisa Andrews, where we just faceplanted it, basically airborne faceplant on the sand, which was quite funny. And then last year, I was in Sardinia in Italy. The wind was super strong, so I thought it might be cool to go kite surfing again. So I found an instructor, and I told him, I said, I can kind of kite surf. So he thought cool took me out on a boat in the middle of the ocean, only to realize that I can totally not kite surf I’m a super beginner. And as I was in the middle of the ocean, battling with the kite and getting slammed into the water and standing up on the board for a few seconds, not longer than that, and getting slammed again and underwater and up again and flying into the air, I realized that there is a difference, and it’s the same in business. There’s a difference between pushing hard on something and trying super hard with force. And that’s one side of the things, which is what I did. And the other option, which is more efficient and effective, is to dance with this kite and to do it in a way that is more subtle, more graceful, more beautiful, and that takes skill. And it’s the same in business. In business, we can either push hard and maybe push against the wrong door constantly, and it’s exhausting, and it takes force, it takes energy, it’s really tiring. Or we can master the skill. Of course, here we teach marketing. We can master the skill of marketing and market in a way that is more masterful, that is more beautiful, that is more artful, because marketing, in the end, is an art form. So which way are you going? And I know today is slightly different video. It’s more philosophical, but I would love for you to think about are you pushing when it comes to growing your business, or are you mastering the skill of marketing and coming up with ideas and concepts and content and creative that you can use in your campaigns that is more artful?
