Franziska: Hi and welcome back. Today, I bribed our very own marketing ninja who doesn‘t really like to be in front of the camera, to come and share something about robots. Aga!

Aga: Yes, straight in. Yes, Franziska said let‘s talk about chat bots, as they are called. Many of us know that our email inboxes are getting more and more full every day and people don‘t pay so much attention anymore about what they are actually getting and then not opening emails as much anymore. So for small business owners, it‘s really hard to still keep in touch with their customers and to get content and your messages in front of them. On the contrary, people are using more and more messenger apps such as Facebook messenger and WhatsApp.

We talk in messenger apps the whole day. So for a while now, there have been these awesome apps around that are called chat bots. It‘s a really cool way for small business owners to utilize to build your relations with your customers in just a different way of getting your content in front of your customers.

So one of those tools that we‘re currently testing and we‘ve been experimenting with is ManyChats. It‘s a free tool to use to start with and you can test it out. Basically, you can think about it as if it was a database management system such as for example Ontraport or MailChimp or ActiveCampaign. In there, you can build email sequences and email automations, not email message automations, but they work similar to email automations and sequences in your current advertisement systems to get your content in front of your customers and reach them in a different kind of way because they are already hanging out on these messenger apps. You can then get your content for your business in front of them that way as well.

And one really cool way to start using this tool is to start collecting contacts because that‘s really the first step. You don‘t have anyone in there yet. You want to get and start collecting contacts in your chat bot app. One really cool way to do that is for example run a competition on Facebook. If you have a product to give away or a book or something like that, you could run a Facebook post that says, “hey, message our Facebook page to be on the run for this book that I am giving away.” They could message us specific word, for example “win”. Then you can set up the automation in ManyChats that then once they message your page “win”, it adds them to a sequence that then gives them content and start putting them into your database. And then once you have other content that you would like to broadcast, you can then send it to the people who have entered your database by entering the competition. So that‘s a cool way to start collecting contacts.

Franziska: Yes, we‘ve been testing a lot of different ways to use these chat bots and with some incredible results. So, what we are going to do so this doesn‘t take long is we are going to run a whole episode on “Pick of the Bunch”, on our podcast, where we‘ll share a whole bunch of different ways to use this same app to be in touch with your customers.
